Shenandoah Valley Head Start is a regional preschool program serving the communities of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro. SVHS is a federal grant funded program with a long standing history of success. Our mission is to provide a quality preschool program that forms partnerships among families, sites, and communities. The program emphasizes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development that is age appropriate for children while encouraging lifelong learning and empowering families through parent engagement.
Head Start Preschool Teaching Assistant, Wayne Hills Preschool
The Head Start teaching assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of the learning experiences that support each child’s growth and development, providing safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate environment, and supporting comprehensive services. This position is school-based, 7.5 hours a day. Salary and benefits are administered by Augusta County Schools.
Successful candidate will have: bachelor or associate degree, with emphasis in child development/education/related field, or Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent, or be currently enrolled in a program to obtain either, or be willing to enroll in a program for completion within 2 years.
Qualified current or previous Head Start parents are encouraged to apply. Bilingual skills are preferred. Successful completion of background checks is required upon hire, including TB test and physical exam.
