EMPLOYMENT NOTICE
Applications now being taken for the following position:
Finance Manager
Valley Career & Technical Center
Valley Career & Technical Center (VCTC) is seeking a full-time Finance Manager to provide accounting and financial skills including procurement to Valley Vocational Technical Center. The VCTC Finance Manager provides a high standard of fiscal support to the school to ensure efficient office and financial operations in a professional environment. Accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
EDUCATIONAL and PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelors of Business Administration degree in accounting, finance, or related field required with minimum of five years related job experience.
- Knowledge of automated general ledger and accounting functions, methods, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using computers. Microsoft Excel and Word experience required.
- Prior experience with school activity accounts and governmental accounting programs preferred.
- Ability to work with multiple funding sources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organizational skills to maintain documentation for audits.
- Strong analytical skill.
- Ability to process documentation in an efficient and timely manner with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform duties in a confidential manner.
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- To pre-audit receiving reports, invoices, and purchase orders for propriety, acceptability, and validity prior to inputting in Accounts Payable process.
- To prepare and issue purchase orders.
- To prepare and mail semi-monthly vendor payments.
- To maintain an orderly and complete records retention system for vendor files to facilitate audits.
- Maintain accurate spreadsheets as assigned.
- To determine reasons for variation in payment requested and payment contracted, quantity/service requested and billed, delayed invoices, delayed receiving reports and initiate vendor communication if needed.
- Internal communications: respond to all internal inquiries and requests for information regarding Accounts Payable.
- To prepare reports for various departments and Valley Tech’s Board of Trustees School Board.
- To work with the external auditing firms to assure that all materials and records are available.
- Administer procurement of capital items to include preparing and seeking bid proposals for those items, as well as property insurance and workers compensation.
- Administer workers compensation reports.
ADDITIONAL ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for budget formulation based upon input given by the Director:
- Utilizes trend analysis and forecasting methods in budget formulation
- Perform cost analysis and procedures for cost allocation
- Develop cash flow analysis
- Serves as contract administrator relative to capital projects
- Has a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
- Prepares various internal and external reports for use by the building principal, VVTC Board, grant reporting, DOE reporting as well as preparing the Annual School Report
- Prepare and submit grant applications
- File for grant reimbursements
- Administer Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Provide fiscal oversight of the Student Activity Account and investments.
- Administer Worker’s Compensation and General Liability and Property insurances
This is a full-time position and is open until filled. Salary is commensurate upon an individual's experience as placed on the Augusta County Public School's salary structure (N9 scale, 260-days, 8 hours a day).
